Oracle 8i: The Complete Reference should be in your library if you are a developer. It has everything you need to design and maintain your database. It really comes in handy when you need to create SQL statements, write PL/SQL, or just figure out what function you need to use. I am not a DBA (I'm a web developer), but I pull this book out everyday to do what I need to get my data from the database to my application. I couldn't live without it! I highly recommend this book to anyone who works with Oracle.

This book is pretty helpful if you already know Cold Fusion. It is exactly what the title says, Cold Fusion 5. What makes this book standout is the sample application that is built within the book (Skate.Shop). This application is an e-commerce app that will actually work when you are complete. I especially liked the database chapter. It will really help someone who isn't very familiar with database creation. Overall, I would recommend this book to more advanced users. Though those users may not need to be led by hand to develop an e-commerce site.

First and foremost, this is NOT a book for beginners. I found it hard to understand at times but this might be because of all of the errors in it. The book itself seemed to be written well. If I was more advanced in XML, I think I would have gotten a lot more out of this book. I will review it again after I become better at XML. Get this book if you already have a good grasp of XML.

I found XML: The Complete Reference to be a worthy book to have in my library. You will not learn everything there is to know about XML in this book, but you will be able to understand it well enough to begin. I have used this book over and over to look up little things that need. It is sometimes difficult to find what you are looking for. But I have put tabs in my book to help me. If you program in XML, you will use this book everyday. This is a must have!

This book is an indispensable aid to configuring Veritas, Legato, Tivoli, and Omniback. Users can gain more knowledge about the architecture behind the recovery manager in Oracle. Includes detailed steps to performing an incremental backup. Shows how powerful RMAN is and how to best utilize it. Builds confidence for any database recovery situation.

If you thought the Oracle 8i: Complete Reference was a helpful book, then Oracle 9i is a must! This book will teach you the new features in 9i as well as the basic database information. If you are a DBA, get this book. If you are a web developer get this book! You will be amazed how much you will use it each day. If you already have the 8i book, then this will only teach you the new features of 9i. I highly recommend this one.
